WLAN - STANDARD IEEE 802.1x - Port based Network Access Protocoll
User dependent authentification in LANs

Within the industry and the standardization committees, there are efforts to standardize the security of wireless LANs and to extend the current WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy). The IEEE 802.1x design for an authentication standard refers to the port and are in time implemented into the operating system Windows XP by Microsoft.
